Kouchibouguac (or Kouch for short) is a Mi’kmaq expression meaning “river of long tides.” The park’s modest size (239 square kilometres) and limited visitation (it receives 226,400 visitors annually, while nearby Fundy National Park sees more than 300,000) undermine its ecological importance. Representing both the Maritime Plain physiographic region and the Atlantic Maritime ecozone, Kouch features a number of fascinating ecosystems, as well as a wonderful blend of Indigenous and Acadian culture.
