Baseball’s brightest stars and sports fans worldwide descend on Seattle for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard, coupled with a week of accompanying events. As MLB All-Star Week nears, Visit Seattle is partnering with regional hotel partners to plan for the influx of visitors. The organization is focused on creating enriching activities for fans to experience Seattle, to patronize businesses in and around the city and to learn about Seattle’s diverse communities and neighborhoods. Additionally, the Seattle Convention Center’s new state-of-the-art convention center, the Summit, which opened earlier this year, continues Seattle’s commitment to uplifting minority voices through its public arts program. New studio artworks adorn the Summit’s interior in an ongoing process involving curators followed by a selection panel. This project affords the opportunity for more artists to showcase their work in the Summit and to expand diversity, equity and inclusion further.
Seattle is one of the most environmentally progressive cities in the United States, and the newly rebranded Seattle Convention Center boasts a comprehensive green program that substantially reduces the impact of the facility on the environment. In honor of International Day of Climate Action on Oct. 24, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Area, which opened October 2021, has set its intentions to be the world’s most-sustainable, -progressive and -responsible. Its goals include creating the first International Living Future Institute-certified zero-carbon arena, using 100 percent renewable energy sources, and eliminating single-use plastics by 2024.
