The Alamo City is home to several theme parks, including Six Flags Fiesta Texas, which will debut a new ride this summer. KID FLASH™ Cosmic Coaster, Texas’ only racing roller coaster, features two trains positioned side by side on parallel dueling tracks and allows guests to race to the finish simultaneously. Not to be outdone, SeaWorld San Antonio welcomes Catapult Falls this summer, the world’s first launched flume coast — the steepest drop for a flume ride with speeds of up to 30 feet a second. For those who prefer to keep their feet firmly on the ground, Mission Adventure Tours has added a “History Through Art” walking tour, highlighting San Antonio’s fabulous collection of public art installations and historic sites, including the recently restored San Pedro Culture Creek and its art-filled pathway of colorful murals.

When the warm Texan temperatures start to cool, San Antonio becomes one of the best places to be during fall, with an array of fun events that are influenced by the destination’s diverse heritage. Whether celebrating Oktoberfest in Beethovel Maennerchor’ Southtown beer garden or participating in the largest El Déa de los Muertos in the U.S., tourists can get a hint of the city’s roots. San Antonio is a UNESCO City of Creative Gastronomy and has one of the nation’s most-vibrant and -varied food scenes. Epicureans can enjoy a weekend-long culinary festival as Visit San Antonio and Culinaria have partnered with the world-renowned James Beard Foundation to bring the Tasting Texas Wine + Food Festival to historic Travis Park in the heart of beautiful Downtown San Antonio.

Experience vintage and historical sites and learn their history while joining Ford Parade of Lights, where 10 beautiful 26-foot-long boats are filled with large illuminated lanterns floating throughout the downtown section of the River Walk. Tourists can also take a special one-hour spooky river cruise on Go Rio Cruises Ghost Tour for the Halloween season to discover the city’s haunted history. For a more family-friendly Halloween experience, visitors can head to the San Antonio Zoo to spend a day at the Zoo Boo! and participate in the daily costume contest, Cowboy’s Scavenger Hunt or trick or treating throughout the zoo, where kids will be given palm oil-free candy.
